Motonari, one of the Co-Founders of Homekuru, aka 'Moto', is the Head of External Relations and Finance, responsible for the management of financial and legal affairs. Alongside co-founder Henry, Motonari contributes greatly to the implementation, development and planning of Homekuru.
Motonari strives to fully comprehend the many layers of Japanese culture in order to solve the problems that the Japanese rental system faces via Homekuru. He understands the fundamental values of the culture in Japan and is determined to make a difference for people who struggle in finding their perfect home.
Motonari, although being the only full Japanese member of the team, has had the most international childhood, growing up in several places such as Indonesia, Thailand and Australia. After graduating with a degree in Accountancy at Kwansei Gakuin University, Motonari moved to Tokyo where he worked for Ernest and Young as a Financial Services Advisory Consultant. When Motonari is not playing with his adorable 1 year old daughter, he enjoys driving cars and watching Top Gear during his downtime.
Henry, one of the Co-Founders of Homekuru, is Head of Internal Relations and People Management. Alongside with co-founder Motonari, Henry plays a huge part in the implementation, development and planning of Homekuru.
Henry takes an analytical approach to solving problems and strongly believes that Japan’s rental system can be changed for the good. He recognizes it may be a long road that requires a lot of patience but is always up for a challenge and believes in bringing the important element of trust to the rental system via Homekuru.
Henry was born in the UK but lived in Japan as a teenager before moving to California to pursue a degree in Genetics and Genomics at the University of California, Davis. He prefers the sunny weather in Japan than the UK and likes to play the ukulele in his spare time.
Qiuning is the Head of Product Design in Homekuru. With a sharp eye for design, she is responsible for the creation of Homekuru’s visual product with a focus on user experience and content creation. She brings our imagination to life with her designs and takes part in the implementation, development and innovation of the product.
Qiuning spent her early years in America but was born in China. She graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a degree in Molecular Biology and Mathematics. Currently Qiuning is studying Illustration in Japan and enjoys traveling around the country by visiting various train stations in her free time.
Jessie is the Lead of Marketing in Homekuru. She manages the marketing division of Homekuru and takes responsibility in the planning, development and execution of Homekuru’s marketing and advertising initiatives, ensuring that Homekuru’s message is delivered across all channels and targets audiences to meet the company’s goal and objectives.
Jessie was born and raised in Scotland, UK and graduated with a Bachelors of Law degree from the University of Glasgow followed by a Masters in Human Resource Management from Strathclyde University. She takes pride in her Scottish and Hong Kong heritage and enjoys writing and trying new fitness challenges in her spare time.
Takashi is the Corporate Advisor for Homekuru, with a wealth of experience in well established companies such as PwC and MetLife. He takes the role in advising the Co-Founders with matters such as external company relations and various business affairs.
Takashi was born and raised in California but has lived a very international life with the last few years in Tokyo. Takashi has also recently started his own start up, WePet, that sells healthy pet food to locals in Tokyo.
Carlos is an estate agent advisor of Homekuru. As CEO to his own company, Helios Development, a real estate company which specializes in helping foreigners moving to Japan, Carlos believes in Homekuru’s vision and mission to transform the Japanese rental system.
Carlos is passionate in helping foreigners with moving to Japan, thus the belief and collaboration with Homekuru. With a strong passion, Carlos brings a wealth of advice and expertise in dealing with Japan’s rental market.
Aliaksandr, aka ‘Alex’, is the Lead Engineer and Technical Founder of Homekuru and manages a small team of 3 engineers, working remotely from a town called Mogilev in Belarus. As a close family friend to Motonari and Henry, Alex and his engineering team bring Homekuru’s platform to life with their extensive experience and expertise.
Although working remotely, Alex and his team make visits to Japan frequently to ensure strong team bonding and understanding of Japanese culture.
Alex was born and raised in Belarus. After gaining a Masters in Computer Science, he spent 5 years working as a Lead Software Engineer for EPAM Systems and 3 years at TulaCo. During his spare time Alex enjoys practicing martial arts and truly appreciates nature, never turning down the invitation to go for a hike!
